Product Description:
The MQ-6 gas sensor is designed for detecting the presence of LPG, iso-butane, propane, and LNG gases, as well as alcohol, cooking fumes, and cigarette smoke. It provides an output equivalent to the concentration of the gases in the form of an analog voltage, as well as a digital high or low signal through an onboard comparator that can be adjusted to a preset value. This module is simple to interface with microcontrollers like Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
The sensor is made of SnO2 which has low conductivity in clean air, but its conductivity increases with rising gas concentrations. It is highly sensitive to Propane, Butane, and LPG, and also responds to Natural gas. The output signal of the gas concentration can be easily converted from the change in conductivity using a simple electrical circuit. This makes the MQ-6 gas sensor low cost and suitable for various applications, especially for detecting Methane gas.
